DR. MATJAŽ KUNTNER

National Institute of Biology

Principal Investigator: Phylogenetic Systematics and Biogeography

With an early education in Slovenia, a graduate education in the USA, and numerous expeditions led around the world's tropics, I am a global scientist and explorer, with a keen interest to advance our understanding of the state of biodiversity, including its conservation.

DR. SIMONA KRALJ FIŠER

Jovan Hadži Institute of Biology ZRC SAZU

Principal Investigator: Behavioral and Evolutionary Ecology

I aim to understand the sex-specific evolution of traits; and how these relate to sexual conflict. My research focuses on the study of sex differences in behaviour and life history from a variety of perspectives.

DR. MATJAŽ GREGORIČ

Jovan Hadži Institute of Biology ZRC SAZU

Principal Investigator: Spider Web and Silk Research

I am mainly interested in the evolution and functional ecology of spider webs and material properties of silk, as well as how spider webs and silk can be used as eDNA sources. I am also interested in how sexual and natural selections shape behaviors.

DR. SHAKIRA G. QUIÑONES LEBRÓN

Jovan Hadži Institute of Biology ZRC SAZU

Research Associate

I'm currently interested in the evolution and maintenance of extreme phenotypic variation. For my PhD thesis I tested several natural and sexual selection pressures on body size in an extremely sexually dimorphic spider. My areas of focus include behavioral ecology, developmental plasticity, and sexual selection.

MOHAMMAD JAVAD MALEKHOSSEINI

National Institute of Biology

PhD Candidate

I am interested in Subterranean Biology and understanding the evolution in true cave animals. Currently, I am investigating the diversity and origins of the troglobiotic fauna in Iran. Doing a PhD in EZ LAB, with a great, nice and friendly group in beautiful Slovenia, is SWEET.
